Gov’t agencies, colleges demand applicants’s Facebook passwords

If you have an account with facebook or another social network, I am confident that by now that you’ve been warned by a teacher, parent/guardian or another responsible adult to be careful about the information and photos that you post.

Social networking has gone to place where most of us never imagined and has become an essential part of our life.  With increased usage, I see a pattern of increased comfort that often leads users to become more casual and more open about their private lives.

The warnings that you get from adults is out of a genuine care and concern for you. We don’t want you to do something that will later prevent you from accomplishing your personal and professional goals.  MSNBC recently posted an article, Gov.t agencies, colleges, demand applicants’ Facebook passwords.  By now means to I agree with the actions of some of these agencies and institutions.  I am sharing this information with you so that you are informed of employer and educational institution trends and be more cautious about what you post on your Facebook page and other social networking pages.
