Atlantic City STEEL PIER JOB FAIR!!!

Friday, March 8th,
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
&
Saturday, March 9th,
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

To apply, you must be at least 16!
Location: Steel Pier, 1000 Boardwalk at
Virginia Avenue, Atlantic City

Please remember the following:

    • Visit the Pier’s web page in advance.  Research the company and learn a few interesting facts that you can state if you are asked, “What do you know about the Steel Pier?”
    • Dress appropriately
      • No jeans, sneakers, hats, hoodies, pants hanging below the butt
    • No visible electronic devices (phones, iPods, etc…)
    • Bring your own pens (blue or black)
    • Bring your résumé and have the name and phone number of three (3) references.  Your references should not be related to you.  The best references for students are teachers, counselors, coaches, and mentors.
    • If you don’t have a résumé, click on the résumé” tab on this page and download a template.  Email your résumé to me at tcain@acboe.org.  I will gladly look it over for you.

    • Conduct yourself in a professional way.  Which means, no clowning around, laughing and talking loud.
    • When speaking, use proper grammar.  AVOID slang and AVOID shaking your head.
    • Use good manners.  Say “Good Morning,” or “Good Afternoon.”  Thank the interviewer for their time.
    • If you are an honor roll student and your attendance record is good, bring your latest report card; the interviewer will be impressed by your hard work in school.
    • To work at the Steel Pier, YOU MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND BE WILLING TO WORK WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, AND NIGHTS.   If you ARE NOT open to working these hours, don’t apply.

Scholarship Announcement

SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

The Atlantic City/DC Connection is proud to award a $1,000.00 scholarship to a deserving Atlantic City High School student of the graduating class. The scholarship recipient personally receives $1,000.00 upon proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a resident of Atlantic City and of African American descent;
  • Be an accepted student at an institution of higher learning;
  • Type or neatly print, a minimum of 500 words in essay format, on the topic: “What growing up in Atlantic City has meant to me and how it has shaped my future goals and endeavors?
  • Submit a copy of “acceptance letter” along with Scholarship Application Forms and essay;
  • Include name and address of the school you plan to attend in the fall
  • Deadline:  All forms must be submitted by March 15

Essays will be judged based on substance and details provided in addition to the overall quality of grammatical skills. The scholarship winner will be notified by April 15.
