Read To Work Workshops

This City of Atlantic City is currently registering students for the summer work program. Students who live in Atlantic City and are ages 14-17 are eligible to apply.  The workshops are scheduled for:

Saturday, February 7th, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  P.A.L. Building

Saturday, February 14th, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. P.A.L. Building

Saturday, February 21st, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. P.A.L. Building

Students must attend one of the workshops to be considered for summer employment.

Registration forms are available at the guidance offices of all Atlantic City Public Schools, the PAL Building, City Hall Library, Our Lady Star Of The Sea, Charter Tech & A.C.I.T.  You may also click on the links below.

  • Bartenders – Must have previous experience and proper licenses
  • Bar Porters – Must be 18 or older

  • Host/Hostess – I am uncertain of the age requirement.  However, if you are interested and are 17 or older, I recommend applying; all they can say is no, but it is certainly worth a try.
  • Pool & Beach Attendant – Again, I haven’t been able to confirm the minimum age requirement, but typically the minimum age for these positions is 16.
  • Beach Manager – Previous experience required.  Must be 18 or older

  • Line/Prep Cooks – Must be 18 or older
  • Lifeguards – Must have Lifeguard and CPR Certifications
  • Security Guards – Must be 18 or older
  • Valet Attendant – Must be 18 or older, have a driver license, and be able to drive a manual transmission (a stick).
  • Front Desk Agent – Must be 18 or older.

The Chelsea is also hiring for a Seasonal Spa Attendant – Spa Attendants welcomes customer to the spa, refreshes linen, stocks supplies,and assists customers with sauna/steam room; responsible for overall cleanliness of locker room. Seasonal Job Opportunities

Hey guys!

I know it’s been a minute since I’ve posted, but you all are keeping me extremely busy during the day.  I know that you’re desperately seeking summer job opportunities, which is why I am taking time out of my busy Sunday afternoon.  Yes, believe it or not, Mrs. Cain isn’t sitting around chillin on the weekends.  There’s house cleaning, laundry, dinner, and more.  Okay so you’re not interested in that stuff, so below are a few opportunities that you need to jump on ASAP!  Like RIGHT NOW… ONLINE…  This isn’t everything, but a few of the many opportunities that are available.

You MUST be consistent in your job search.  College students and adults are applying for the same jobs for which you apply, so you have to kick-it-up a notch.  Bring your résumé, dress professionally, practice articulating your sales pitch about why an employer should hire you over other candidates.  Make sure that you have three professional references to include when requested. To prepare for interviews, read my sample interview questions.

Also, if you are ages 16-21, you can apply for the 2013 Summer Youth Work Experience Program.  I have applications in my office; however, you MUST have a hall pass from your teacher.  You can also download the application and flyer from the links below.  If you are 16 or 17, you will need a work permit from me to submit your application. Bring a pass to my office and I will issue you the work permit.

Public Library, East Campus, All other AC Public Schools, Oceanside Charter School, and Or Lady Star of The Sea.
